The Mojave River water question draws Barstow and Mojave towns into a dispute over a 1000 inch water filing scheme backed by Congressman Swings and Senator Swings. Barstow and others fear exclusion and urge united protest to protect local interests.
H G Laub of Standard Oil says the company withdrew its gas plant permit in Barstow and Victorville until state approval. Once the State Railroad Commission issues a certificate, Barstow erection will begin, followed by Victorville. County supervisors awarded Laub a franchise for both Barstow and Victorville sites, with Charles F Stern of Los Angeles as financier.
Mr Coleman Harvey House news stand manager and his son of Victorville near the river bridge have nearly closed a deal with Mrs Haws to buy the ranch north of the bridge. A Texaco service station is planned at the junction nearby and Mrs Haws departs Sunday for Los Angeles to reside there with Mr and Mrs Floyd Haws also moving to Los Angeles.
A baby girl arrived Tuesday night to Mr Eddy and Mrs Eddy, welcomed with joy.
Mr and Mrs Andy Christensen report a baby boy born at their home on Tuesday.
Tony, proprietor of Tony's Cafe, came back this week after a hospital stay in San Bernardino and reports feeling much better.
Daggett residents and visitors recount Thanksgiving visits with families in Daggett and San Bernardino. Ford car ownership spreads as several locals trade for new models at the Daggett Inspection station, with George Kunzler and A D Lynde among dealers. District inspector Lyle Lanard tours the area while others relocate homes and travel to Los Angeles for family matters.

Mr and Mrs Joe Rankin of San Bernardino visited friends here Sunday noting a Barstow background. Mr and Mrs Wade Parker left for Parker Arizona Sunday with Mrs Parker staying two weeks with her parents Mr and Mrs Dee Cooper. Mr Parker arrived Thursday and Mr and Mrs Steve Videl were Thanksgiving guests of Mr and Mrs Glen Fenner of Needles.
W A McCrary of Bakersfield spent Thanksgiving day at the home of his sister Mrs A Gilham. Chas McIlroy of Barstow was a guest at the Gilham home Thursday.
Mr and Mrs L Fisher returned Thursday from a two weeks trip in Kansas to visit relatives. Mrs Emily Groot mother of Carl Groot left Saturday for Downey after a two weeks stay with her son and family. Mrs Groot aunt Anna Mm John ston of Los Angeles was a guest over Thanksgiving.
Mrs Ben Zentmire went to Loma Linda Sanitarium Wednesday for a few days. The stores are taking on a holiday appearance and the merchants are getting ready for the Christmas trade.
W. W. Smith came home from Pasadena where he had been hospitalized after his wife died. He holds a leave of absence from the Postal Telegraph company. His sister in Louisville plans to leave on the 10th for Barstow, and Mr. Smith hopes she will stay and help him establish a home locally.
Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Helessen moved from Lancaster to their Newberry district homestead this week. Reports from newcomers predict a rise of twenty five or more people in the farming area this spring as favorable water conditions draw Lancaster farmers who formerly drilled 2900 to 300 feet, versus 10 to 50 feet in Newberry.
Oscar Johnson sustained minor cuts and bruises after slipping through a roof at his Lake area residence last Sunday. He had been employed years ago at Barstow Ga rage near the tracks.
The Barstow Antlers Club announces its masquerade New Years Eve dance with San Bernardino union orchestra results. Preston Brownfield on piano Ted Roberts on trumpet Joe Andress sax and banjo B J Calvi on saxophone clarinet and violin Clarence Rakow on drums. The club promises an unforgettable night.
The Mojave river irrigation district filed an application with the state division of water resources to divert 85 000 acre feet of Mojave river water from San Bernardino county as part of a 2 000 000 water project. A storage dam to irrigate 27000 acres is contemplated.
Co. W. Brockman visited Barstow Tuesday with Supervisor Doran. The Brockmans reside in the county owned building at Cajon Camp Grounds, an outpost maintained for camping and picnics. Brockman, caretaker, notes tourists arriving from distant states. cement tables were built by Southern California cities and various groups. Lodges also maintain outposts for members camping or picnicking. under Brockman, grounds stay clean and visitors recall pleasant stays.
The Parent Teachers Association held its Tuesday meeting. Due to illness, Mrs. Dee Cooper was absent and Mrs. Burton Leak led. Principal Lindsley announced Mrs. Grandstrome donates an hour daily for sewing lessons and the group voted ten dollars for supplies. Mrs. Jonas read a Christmas story, and Mrs. Thompson spoke on storytelling techniques.
Mrs Haws announced Mrs Hartwick as the new leader and Eunice Pray and Marie Crooks as Lieutenant and Assistant Lieutenant after a handkerchief shower to honor her departure. Thelma Imel became Dove Patrol Leader. The group practiced basketball at the Grammar School Auditorium and thanked Mr Lindsley for use of the building.

Two toll circuits Barstow to Victorville added, total copper wire 148 miles. Barstow office upgrades for 1000 subscribers. $7000 for Santa Fe crossovers. Hinkley district survey shows farms too spread out for immediate extension.
Mrs Northup led Daggett residents in a Barstow Woman's Club meeting featuring the Girls Glee Club and readings by Edna Rowe. James Weld played piano, Mrs Willett sang, and prize games spread festive cheer. A Red Cross donation was approved, two new members joined, and a Christmas party with gift exchange was planned for next Tuesday.
