Rich Gold Placer Mines Near Lane's Well and More in Mojave Desert

Two miles south of Lane's Well rich gold placer mines yield up to two dollars per cubic yard. Miners use rotary screens, with several claims located around the Ben-tonite mines. Nearby, a quicksilver mine near old City Wells at Randsburg shows deposits of two to three pounds per ton. Other features note Af tons curio shop, Soap Mine near the river, and barium deposit prospects. A new oil well near Kramer dome approaches 1,000 feet depth, with optimism for a 5,000 foot strike, while Justice of the Peace race mentions L J Henderson’s re-election.

Officer Snediger Detains Two Suspicious Suspects

Officer Snediger stopped a speeding car on Main Street at 11 10 p m. Wednesday. Two men in a 1930 Essex are jailed while authorities review records. Names given were Arthur Bentz 22 and Andrew Hi Shapiro 27 Milwaukee addresses. A letter to Bentz from Ray Hoack Milwaukee indicates a police wanted status. The car contained three suitcases of fine clothes, jewelry, watches, tools, California plates, a rifle two six shooters and alarm box keys. The vehicle had radio gear and headphones.

Reopen Pacific Mine Under New Superintendent H J Jackson

H J Jackson leaves Tuesday for the Bagdad Chase mine nine miles south of Ludlow to assume superintendent duties. Intensive development is planned, with Arthur Doran holding the repair contract for seven miles of railroad. Forty workers will be added to the crew as development proceeds. The Bagdad Chase and Yellow Aster once supplied gold for Barstow's mill before a fault ended the vein and halted work.

McClary and McPherson Wedding in Glendale Calif

Iliard McClary formerly of Barstow wed Rhoda McPherson sister of Mrs Chris Peterson Barstow. The ceremony took place at Wee Kirk O the Heather Glendale with Rev Gaffer officiating. The bride works in Redlands and won Barstow’s first prize in last year’s subscription drive. The groom is a Redlands businessman, brother to Mrs Bigger and Bert McClary. They plan a ten day honeymoon in Big Bear Valley after a cottage stay following a lavish wedding supper. The pair were childhood sweethearts in Calgary Canada and became engaged after Miss McPherson moved to southern California last year.
