Henry Ford Declares Full Responsibility for Edsel War Work
Henry Ford testified he told Edsel Ford he could do more good in the factory than in the military. He said his son refused several commissions and the Ford plant produced munitions and meathed war work, while Ford asserted he bore full responsibility for Edsel's exemption claim. He described buying out minority stockholders to free profits for employees and the public, and noted his only requested legislation was for bird protection. He named Edison and John Burroughs as close friends and highlighted his fight against the Selden patent to free the auto industry.
