Barstow Triumphs Over Needles In Tight Sunday Showdown

In a Sunday afternoon clash at Barstow diamond, Barstow edged Needles 7 to 6 after a late surge. Needles led 3 1 0 across early innings, Barstow answered with four in the eighth and two in the ninth, aided by errors and bright plays. New Manufacturing Plants for Barstow

Barstow to host two new manufacturing plants planned by the local Chamber of Commerce. The city sits at a three way division point served by Salt Lake and Santa Fe railroads, with electricity from Southern Sierras Power Company. Barstow offers telephone service, a Mojave river location, an ice plant, water works, a Standard Oil sub station, municipal aviation field, and direct eastward route from Los Angeles, making it an ideal manufacturing site.

National Airlines Association reports an aeroplane will land at Barstow Municipal Aviation Field next Saturday and remain Saturday and Sunday. If winds stay light, the public may ride the aircraft from Barstow field.

Tailings of the Waterman Mine Lease Seeks Production

Arizona miners H. J. Jackson David and Mark Gimmell have leased the Waterman mine tailings west of Barstow and will start work this week. Jackson and partners visited from Galico after weeks sampling ore. They have optioned Calico property and anticipate eastern capital restoring its production potential.
