Yermo Daggett Elks Host County Lodge Trek

San Bernardino Elks lodge officers with over 100 members conduct their annual desert district trek. This year the Yermo and Dazzrett fifteen Elks urged hosting in Yermo, entertaining about 250 with a chicken dinner at the Yermo Athletic Club. A five coach special train from San Bernardino arrived with guests and entertainers.

California Filagers advance agent A Burnell arranged five days of tent performances here starting next Monday, en route to Utah and the midwest after playing in Upland.

Henderson and Nicklin Plan Improvements on Hill Property

Henderson and Nicklin, recent purchasers from Santa Fe, propose improvements behind Barstow Printer building. A survey this week mapped a road from First Street to the hilltop, with lots to be laid out for homes overlooking the town.

Bridge Party Honors Mrs Oswald With Prizes

Thursday evening last week Mrs. Uarry Kelly hosted five tables of bridge in honor of Mrs. Oswald. Mrs. T Anderson won first prize a hand embroidered luncheon set. Mrs. Jud Potter took second prize and Mrs. Craig received the consolation prize.

Easter Services At Southern California Congregational Church

A large crowd attended the Sun Rise Easter Services with a fine Sunday school program. Rev I McRea preached at 11 AM with baptisms and two members received. a second Easter sermon followed in the evening. The choir performed two pieces at both services. Missionaries J Feuerstein and wife, former parishioners, visited en route to Bakersfield for furlough. McRea attended a ministers retreat on Catalina Island with eighty pastors. Next Sunday May 1 evening services start half hour later. A social tea at Mrs Lubir Henderson’s home completed the week.

Imperial Utilities CO Implements Local Improvements in Barstow

Imperial Utilities Corporation advances Barstow development with a large ice and storage plant supervised by manager Wm Tumblin set to operate by summer. A six inch Main Street water main extends east to Tiernan property near 7th Street, with Chas Mitchell purchasing Tiernan frontage. A $7000 building is planned by the local Star dealer. W Hi Sides plans a modern camp with shade trees, water supplied by Imperial. Existing Santa Fe and Bauer Slaton properties in the same block are being improved with new water lines, and a water tank on the hill behind the Printer office is planned to aid Barstow’s growth.

It was reported today that Mr and Mrs H A Dowaglas owners of the Cliff House camp grounds have sold their place of business for $18,000. This is one of the attractive camp grounds on the National Old Trail Highway. It is an Oasis with shady grounds and a large swimming pool welcomed by visitors.
