Officer Lyndy Daggett Recovers Stolen Chrysler Sedan
A Needles police telegram warned of a stolen 1927 Chrysler sedan. At 2 am Officer Lynde, on duty with another officer, chased the car as it sped past a Daggett service station. The occupants fled on foot. they were not captured. The officer avoided a crash by stopping just feet from the fleeing vehicle.

Bad Fire at Inn City Destroys Eight Buildings
At 3:30 am Tuesday flames from a vacant Main Street building in Inn City spread to Eiva's place and numerous nearby structures. Firemen halted the blaze at Red's garage. no injuries reported though property loss is about 25000 dollars with no insurance on the buildings.

Rock Gas Explosion Wrecks Daggett Garage
In Daggett a rock gas tank of about 850 pounds exploded near the Umbehend service station Sunday afternoon destroying the garage. The 400 pound tank was found 700 feet away after the blast. No one was injured though nearby children had just left the area. The couple suspects heat from the sun caused expansion. This follows prior fire losses at their station and residence.

Barstow Grammar School Field Day Meet Held In Desert Division
The San Bernardino County Track Meet Desert Division took place in Barstow on Saturday April 18. Sponsored by the Barstow School physical education department led by Edw M Hausladen, the event followed Junior Olympic rules with eight divisions across twenty eight events. Student body organized the day with James Weld as Senior Patrol leader overseeing crowd and event order, Red Wilson as announcer, and Frances Mudgett heading the social and lunch committee serving 250 hot dogs and over 2000 glasses of lemonade and punch. Winners may advance to the Junior Olympic meet in Los Angeles later this season.

Stage passenger felled driver in California derailment scare

Arrest of Ralph Butler in Yerma road gas theft case
A young man driving a sport Buick spurred away after filling fourteen gallons of gas and attempting to steal a quart of ail at a Yerma service station. Ralph Butler, identified by station staff, was arrested by Officer Williams at Yermo after a warrant issued in April. Butler admitted stealing a Brick in front of the Fox theatre in San Bernardino and was arraigned Monday in Judge Henderson's court awaiting trial.
