Initial meeting of British and Irish delegates at 10 Downing Street lasted two hours. Mr Lloyd George and Arthur Griffiths delivered brief addresses as discussions began on a new Anglo Irish arrangement.
In London the Sinn Fein and British government representatives opened talks at 11 am in the Downing Street cabinet room. Crowds of several hundred cheered the Sinn Fein delegates as they arrived in closed cars, while many wore Sinn Fein emblems. Boston. Oct 1. Attorney J Weston Allen will file with the supreme court to remove Joseph C Pelletier as district attorney of Suffolk county. Specifications are being prepared and a conference with Henry F Hurlburt and the Boston Bar association indicated they may join. The attorney general will not release charges until formally filed with the court.
A Packard owned by L. D. Willent and Sons and driven by Kenneth McIntosh rear ended a car driven by Homer Grimes of Barre near Montpelier's National Life Insurance building, causing about $100 damage and a broken body. A separate Brattleboro incident involved a Mosher garage driver colliding with a Ford, causing extensive damage to the Ford and minor damage to the other car. A third report notes George J. Ruthand Redfield, former Hubbardson ex state senator and Rutland judge, died at Rutland Hospital after being struck Friday on Williams Street by a bicycle ridden by Edmund Behar de of Williams Street. Redfield was 14, unmarried, survived by mother Flora Barber. He had been riding on the sidewalk, allegedly in violation of city ordinance. The death may lead to serious charges against the youth rider.
