A city demolition in Lynchburg Virginia resulted in the collapse of a wall killing five city employees and injuring two others. The plate over a fireplace reportedly snapped, precipitating the accident during the tearing down of the structure.
In Lynchburg Virginia on October 10 five city workers were killed and two injured when a brick wall at Fifth and Church streets collapsed during demolition. A plate from an old fireplace snapping caused the wall to topple trapping and injuring men. three escaped, two by jumping to the street, and a third pressed against the wall and survived as the lower five feet did not fall.
A riot ended the fourth game of the Louisville Baltimore junior world series as 3500 of 6500 fans rushed the field pelting umpires and police with cushions. Louisville officials called it a disgrace while the game had been forfeited to Baltimore in the ninth inning.

Arthur Ralph St. Cyr son of C J St Cyr and Miss Clara Belle Morse united in marriage by Rev W McN Killedge at the Presbyterian manse on Well ington street. They were attended by Miss Annie Gamble and Reginald Davis. The groom works in a grocery business with his father and the bride recently completed duties as stenographer in Judge F L For’s office. They will reside at 188 South Main Street with the groom’s parents.
The Vermont state highway board has authorized American Gas Accumulator to install 75 to 150 auto acetylene lighthouses at dangerous highway points for three years. Installations begin this fall, with lights on six foot enameled posts to mark curves grades and crossings and glow with internal illumination and advertising.

Alexander Adams, longtime Barre stonecutter and 70, died yesterday at 118 Washington Street after a lengthy illness. Born in Scotland near Aberdeen, he came to the United States about 40 years ago and settled in Barre 17 years ago. He is survived by his wife and two sons, W. G. Adams and Walter F., with funeral services set for tomorrow afternoon at the home and burial in Hope Cemetery.
