In northern Italy Italian forces reportedly repelled a Teuton assault on Mount Corno on Sunday. An official statement from Rome said heavy losses were inflicted on the enemy and emphasized the defending troops repelled the attack successfully.

Forty cars in a long freight train, pulled by two engines, collided with a short extra on a curve. Frank Long of New Haven fireman is in Noble hospital with a fractured ankle. Daniel J. Hogan of New Haven fireman and S. I. Long of Eastfield, engineer, sustained minor injuries.

S Smith of Montpelier aged 15 succumbs to intestinal tuberculosis. Born in Montpelier, son of Mr and Mrs Frank Smith. Body to be taken to the Middlenes road area for funeral likely on Wednesday. He leaves his father and sister Barbara.

The funeral of Mrs Demoline Batchelder wife of the late Alonzo Batchelder took place at her daughter Mrs Alice Nye 0 Kinney Street on Sunday at 1 o clock Rev A W Hewitt officiating. Bearers included Aldro Batchelder Henry Batchelder and Benjamin Batchelder with others connected to the Batchelder family. Interment followed at Center Cemetery in Plainfield with many floral tributes and out of town attendees from nearby towns.
Alexander Wilson a native of Scotland and longtime Barre resident died Saturday night at 10 30 in the Merchant street extension from tuberculosis He came to Barre in 1893 and worked in the granite trade He is survived by his daughter Miss Mary Wilson of Maple Avenue and siblings in Scotland His wife died ten years ago Funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at Badger's undertaking rooms with interment at Hope Cemetery
Funeral services for Alexander Towers long-time Harre resident and former granite manufacturer were held at his home on Cable Street Sunday afternoon led by Rev Rae Crossland pastor of the First Free Church. A large gathering including Clan Gordon Nie 6580 and Granite Ledge of Masons attended. Bearers were Robert Knox James Imlah Charles W McMillan Peter Thom John Stewart and William Cole. Mr Dowers belonged to the Presbyterian church clan and Masonic fraternity with rituals at the graveside in Hope Cemetery.
