Downtown collapse kills many as roof fire follows

Two dwellings in a downtown Negri neighborhood collapsed after extra weight from an open air sleeping apartment atop one house. At least two bodies, a man and a woman, were recovered. Funeral Services for Dr Chester L Hodgkins in Roslindale

Funeral services were held at the home of his brother in Roslindale for Dr Chester Lyman Hodgkins a physician and surgeon of international renown who died in Park Falls Wisconsin He was born in West Roxbury in 1870 trained at Harvard and Georgetown and practiced across Vermont Vermont Massachusetts Tennessee and Wisconsin He served as surgeon with the 17th US Infantry in the Spanish war and later worked as a sanitary engineer in South America He was a member of Masonic circles and prominent medical societies and is survived by a wife.

Escape leads to death by own action in New Hampshire

John A Boody, 70, of Henniker New Hampshire, escaped custody after a Wednesday arrest on a statutory charge. Greenwich, Conn. March 20 A mother deposited her two young children in water then drank poison after writing a note asking forgiveness. Mire. William Anthony, wife of a contractor, drowned Marjorie three and Vivian two in a tub and swallowed poison. Anthony returned home and found his wife groaning in the bedroom. She survived and was hospitalized. A warrant issued for the mother's arrest.
