A ten day campaign by busy workers has assured a fifty thousand dollar build ing fund for the hospital. Supplementary work is to be completed by tonight, guaranteeing the total. The community efforts culminating in this result reflect wide local support and organized fundraising.
Barre workers finish a ten day drive to raise funds for the city hospital building, surpassing a 40000 goal and approaching 50000 with a 10000 Calef gift conditional on completing the fund. The total includes 60000 pledged for creation and maintenance, with 30000 initially raised and 41000 reached mid campaign. 300+ attendees filled the vestry for final appeals, auctions and speeches praising broad town city cooperation.
A dramatic blaze on Elmwood Avenue Burlington damaged a bedroom and its furnishings in Mrs. Anna Taylor’s residence 264 Elmwood Avenue. Fire officials say a flatiron incident sparked the fire likely from an ironing error. Firemen used chemical and hose lines to control the flames within a half hour. Estimated loss near 400 to 500 dollars with no insurance on Mrs. Taylor's furniture.
Burlington March 2 The usual annual health officers school will be held this year in four sections at St Albans St Johnsbury Rutland and Bellows Falls in late May to early June. Mrs Amelia Keith of 14 Otterwan Street Nashua died last evening after fainting in Canal Street near the Greek fruit store at 76 Canal. She was 41 or 42, visiting a friend, and attempted to reach the store but passed away before medical staff could revive her.

Probation officer Charles A. Smith of Montpelier reports Harry Osgood has been released on parole after serving a short term for breaking into a house in Worcester. Osgood previously showed careless behavior entering another man’s home. The case note reflects standard parole procedures and completion details.
A contrived incident on the Ohio Florida special near Floville, Virginia, last night ended with a conductor collapsing and a would be robber failing in a gunpoint hold up. Passengers and crew resisted as the assailant fled into the darkness, leaving police to pursue.
