Two Lives Lost in Lake Morey Hotel Fire

Yalrlee reports a tragic blaze at the Glens Falls house at Lake Morey destroying the three story wooden hotel. Miss Effie Perkins of Flushing and Miss Flora Albee of Springfield perished in the flames. six others were injured, including Perkins's parents and sister. The hotel loss is listed at 5,000 with 26 guests evacuated safely.

Becker Arrested and Forced to Plead in Rosenthal Murder

Two Daring Shootings in New York City

In New York City two bold shootings wounded and killed in busy districts. Rayment Forby alias Clark, with a criminal past, was captured by officers and identified by both victims as the assailant. Funeral Attendee David Mitchell Drops Dead in Vergennes

David Mitchell of Burlington collapsed after attending Homer Kimball’s funeral in Ferrisburgh and died at about six o'clock near the freight house. The 72 year old, a former silver plating businessman from Winooski, resided at 46 Clarke Street and left two daughters. He had heart trouble and had served in the Civil War from 1862 to 1868.

Well Known Traveling Man Stanhope Dies at Home

Hannibal Hamlin Stanhope, a longtime traveling salesman born September 25, 1871, died Sunday night at his father TL N Stanhope’s Richford home from nervous prostration and valvular heart trouble. Drowning of Local Girl in Lake Accident

Josephine Locatelli, 17, daughter of B Locatelli, and Donald Merrill, son of local residents, drowned when their rowboat capsized on the lake after a rain shower. Merrill was rescued in serious condition but expected to recover. services held at the Baptist church.

Fog Causes Steamer Collision Off Boone Island

The City of Rockland struck the collier William Chisholm in fog off Boone Island, sinking to the guard rails. About 200 passengers were transferred to the Chisholm, then to the Belfast. several sustained minor injuries. Lifeboats were deployed, one boat released early, dropping women into the sea but all were rescued.

Tragic Quarry Fall Kills Michael Coyne at Granite Company Site

Michael Coyne a 60 year old quar ryman at Standard Granite Co. fell 45 feet after losing grip on a swinging grout box. He died instantly near the two linked quarries while guiding the box to the ground. Coyne lived alone in a small shack, was illiterate, and leaves a wife, a daughter in Massachusetts, and two sons with unknown whereabouts.
