The emperor of Japan died this morning at 12043 after unconsciousness since yesterday. A vast crowd gathered around the palace park praying and crying, with clogs and footsteps heard from the streets to the palace. Officials noted the public’s confidence during the emperor's illness marks a new phase in modern Japan.

FIL Abbott of Knnaveour visited Friday and Saturday. Granite Day special planned at the club house tonight at 7:9. Fraser, secretary.
New York police close in on four fugitives in the Herman Rosenthal assassination case. Whitey Lewis Lefty Louie Gyp the Blood and Tesonine are said to be near capture, with San Sebeppe fleeing the city. A new witness, Mentity, places the quartet at the Metropole scene and describes the gray murder car and gun positions.
July 20 report details 11 year old Dion Lew claiming permission to test a 22 caliber rifle. Henry Talbot 12 and Henry White 11 were arrested for manslaughter after Dion was shot dead from a window. A note allegedly written by Dion is in dispute.
London July 20 The dock workers refused the strike leaders call to end the action and few returned to work. Strikers accuse leaders of betraying them into unconditional surrender as the secretary of the strike committee cites probable resignation by Wardle.
London July 29 Ernest Barry champion sculler defeated Wichant Arnst of Australia over the Thames in a four quarter mile race for the world sculling championship and purse of 9000 dollars Barry finished in 23 minutes 8 seconds securing the championship cup long held by Arnst.
A large fire in Waterville Maine consumed ten business blocks and a family home, with the fire zone estimated at several thousand dollars. The Mace family barely escaped, and George B. Marsh of American Express was temporarily reassigned to Littleton as the local office faced disruption.

Hall of St. Johnsbury for sheriff, John Buckley of Wheelock for high bailiff, with Arthur Gleason and Welcome B. Eastman as locals. Delegates pledged support to the state and national tickets and discussed Wilson’s early race dynamics and the Fifteen Mile Market project.

William Driscoll known as Ottawa Irish pleaded guilty in Orange County Court to breaking into a Williamstown store and office during the night of a date in 1911. Page, married and recently returned to Barre, is recovering at home with two head wounds and no broken bones.
Mrs. Welch formerly Mins 11 Kent bow sold her entire stock of millinery in the Miles building to Garie Burke Gongo. The store has been run by Mrs. Welch for four years and built a strong local reputation. Gongo plans fall styles and invites customers to inspect the line. Welch relinquished possession last Friday.
