A shop owner touts quality and warned buyers against shoddy items while claiming to have invested $1500 in domestics last June to resell to manufacturers at a profit. He urges customers to compare Rogers' prices and promises monthly cuts to pressure credit buyers and outpace competitors.
Mrs E T Crowder, age 43, died Sunday night at her husband’s home near town after a long illness begun last March. Funeral was held Monday at 3 p.m. at the family residence conducted by Rev H J Ellis, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. The bereaved husband and children receive community sympathy.
In Monroe county Red Bone district the Holt family led the season with high totals. J M Holt carried water and picked 187 pounds in a day while his wife gathered 240 pounds. Daughters 18 16 and 14 years old picked 228 228 and 200 pounds respectively. Their 20 year old son harvested 310 pounds. They can pick a bale a day easily. The family is expected to do well with such workers.
Invitations have been issued for the marriage of Dr. Bryan J. Clark and Miss Lilla Jackson at the Methodist church in Baconton Georgia on Wednesday October 9 at 4 30 p m. Miss Jackson is daughter of Mr and Mrs G S Jackson and well known in Southwest Georgia. Dr Clark a prominent Barnesville physician is highly regarded in the community.

In regular session October 1 1895 the Pike county Board of Commissioners levied taxes for 1895. Allocations include court expenses 27 22-114 percent roads and bridges 21 53-57 percent jail expenses 15 20-57 percent paupers 55-19 percent building new court house 131 11-19 percent total 2.94 per $1000 for county purposes and 6.00 per $1000 for the new court house.
