Barnesville Gains New Depot and Park Beautification

The new passenger depot is finished and in use enhancing local transit. A large auditorium for Gordon Institute is planned with 316 incandescent lights to create a bright scene when electricity starts. Residents anticipate park improvements and tasteful new fences, trees, and two story home additions in the town.

Miss Carriehenri Davis entertained a small group of friends Monday evening with cordial hospitality. The pleasant visit passed quickly and ended all too soon as goodbyes were spoken.

Dr. J M Brittain returned from Auburn Georgia after delivering the commencement sermon for the Perry Rainey Institute to a large audience. He plans to preach the commencement sermon for Monroe Female College at Forsyth on Sunday.

Seventy Fifth Birthday Celebrated at Colliers Station

Mr W. J. Williamson marked his seventy fifth birthday last Friday at his Colliers station home. He enjoyed a reunion with his children and grandchildren, with an excellent dinner and a most enjoyable day. The Gazette wishes him many more such occasions.

Rev Julien S Rodgers of Macon filled the Baptist pulpit for morning and evening services Sunday. In the morning his subject was He leadeth me and in the evening he spoke about heaven. He is a relatively new minister but already an interesting preacher.

Lieut and Mrs. F L Palmer hosted an elegant evening for Gordon Institute battalion officers. Delicate refreshments and engaging games featured the event. Attendees included Miss Marilyn Wellens, Mr. W H Blitch, Miss Eva Harris, Mr Lawrence Hunt, and many others with Lieuts Liggin and Mott among the guests.

Doctor W J Cox Appointed Chief Surgeon for Central of Georgia

Dr W J Cox was appointed surgeon for the Central of Georgia Railway Company at Barnesville last Friday in a surprised move. A Southern Medical College Atlanta graduate with a growing Barnesville practice he has quickly gained friends and is expected to render satisfactory service.
