Park Dream for Barnesville Cadet Grounds

A proposal to convert the Gordon Institute drill grounds between Central and Thomaston roads into a city park. The plan calls for shade trees seats fountains and landscaping to create a delightful public space like Forsyth Park or Lincoln Park, elevating Barnesville into a thrifty modern city.

Death of Little Editha Stevens

The child of Rev. and Mrs. W. S. Stevens died at four o'clock Tuesday morning after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the parsonage Tuesday afternoon at 4:30, conducted by Rev. H A Hodges, Rev. W M Hunter and Dr. J M Brittain, with interment at Cave Springs. The community expresses deep sympathy for the grieving parents.

The Gatfish Club Leaves for Satillo River Trip

The Barnesville Catfish Club departed Barnesville Monday at six o'clock for Satillo River. A large depot crowd sent them off with wishes for luck. B Y P U Meeting at Dr Fogg’s Home

The B Y P U meeting Friday evening will be held at the home of Dr J L Fogg. The study subject is the book of Hebrews with Miss Maud Smith discussing historical features and Dr T J Watts speaking on Faith and its rewards. Members are expected to give quotations from the book.

Big Dairy Move Sparks Barnesville Interest

In early year move, W P Davis relocates from Putnam to Pike renting from H M Howard near town. His father John W Davis, a successful Putnam dairyman with 50 to 100 Jersey cows, may also relocate to Barnesville to run a large dairy, a profitable enterprise that would boost the community. The Gazette hopes to note the relocation soon.

Glass Entertained Sunday School Class at Blalock House

Mrs. A J Blalock hosted her Sunday school group at the Blalock House last Friday evening. The Methodist class, considered among the best, enjoyed games and refreshments. Rail Road Improvement at Depot Sparks Town Praise

A great improvement has been made around the depot area with filling between the track and city and a chert cover. The side track moved to the road's far side extends from the water tank toward Turner Prout mills, easing car congestion as the new passenger depot nears opening in days. Local authorities and Central receive praise.

Memorial Sermon and Community Day at Rocky Creek

Dr. J. M. Brittain preached a memorial sermon at Rocky Creek church and spoke in the afternoon. He praised the community for its annual church property and cemetery cleanup day with a basket dinner and special services, urging others to imitate the custom.

Elder Institute Principal Praises Weaver Community School

Prof. G B Ridley, principal of the Elder Institute at Weaver, visited on Saturday and reported the school flourishing with attendance better than expected. He commends the community for its splendid new school building and strong educational interest, calling it one of the best in the county.
