A seasoned merchant declares commitment to win back old customers and expand trade this year. He notes extensive knowledge of the business and ready cash to pay for everything, promising better inducements to the trade.
A report in the Eve ning Constitution states Barn esville knitting mills may relocate to Atlanta. Messrs. Simpson and DuRocher negotiate for the purchase, claiming Atlanta can manufacture goods as cheaply as Barnesville, though local commentary suggests Barnesville leads in manufacturing momentum.
Epworth League and B Y P A held a Sunday afternoon joint service in the Baptist church. Col S N Woodward president of the League gave the appointed main address on Courage, a strong presentation. Miss Mary W Lovelace sang solo and dueted with Miss Eva Harris. both numbers were greatly enjoyed. The two groups collaborate in a commendable fraternal spirit.
A 32 by 804 foot brick addition is under rapid construction at the Sum mers Buggy Co. plant. Walls stand twelve feet high, the three story building runs along Forsyth street with a corner city hall entrance and a large elevator to access the upper floors. The expansion almost doubles the plant's capacity and marks a significant advancement for the company.
Mr. John Collier and his family become Barnesville residents, occupying the Fleming place on Elm Street. He hails from the prominent Collier family of Monroe County and is welcomed to the town.
Walker Wright, longtime Barnesville resident, died leaving a legacy of service and sincerity. Friends recall his steady life, daily faith, and readiness to help others, likening him to a Roman soldier of duty. His memory endures among young men and his family as he rests in peace beyond the river.
Rev. C. C. Crail of Montgomery Alabama spoke at the Baptist church last Thursday on his decade as a tramp. He described roaming through most states and many cities and his conversion followed by work among an estimated 750000 tramps in the United States. The lecture drew keen interest and praise for its mission to help wanderers.
A Wednesday evening musical drawing hosted by Miss Mabel Lambdin drew praise. Miss Arlie Murphey won first prize while Mr W W Wilkerson took the booby prize. Delicate refreshments followed a very pleasant program as Miss Lambdin proved a gracious hostess.
