The March 1902 Barnard Bulletin laments low turnout at the Students' Aid Committee tea. The Dean and alumnae attended, but only about fifteen students showed up, prompting call for broader student participation in events benefiting the college and its guests.
The newspaper reports the election of Miss Mary E. S. Colt in 1903 to the staff of the Telegram. Miss Louise Edgar Peters is elected to the Board of Associate Editors.
The Y W C A asks all members with unpaid dues to pay promptly to cover current expenses. Mary F. Harrison serves as treasurer.
The Annandale gathering reviewed missions work with H. M. Mellheney and Rev. Samuel Evans shaping sessions on Japan and The Philippines. Speakers urged personal responsibility, prayer, study, and giving to spread Christianity at home and abroad, ending with Lt. Lloyd’s call for civilization through missions.
At a Monday meeting on March 3, Miss Howard, 1903, was chosen president and Miss Ethel Pool secretary. The Nominations Committee includes Miss Elsa Alsberg 1902 Miss Eleanor Phelps 1862 and Miss Margaret G Elliman 1907.
The Southern Club gave an entertainment last Tuesday at 4 30 in the theater. Mr Polk Miller of Richmond Va related dialect stories and sang plantation songs. He was assisted by a chorus of four Virginia darkies. The show was a novelty at Barnard with an ante bellum flavor.
The Christian Association selects a nominating committee to elect Y W C A officers for 1902 1903 and 1904 including Margaret Clark Olive Dutcher Anna Ware Van Sloke and Emilie Hutchinson Members may submit candidate names to the committee.
The Société Francaise plans a Monday gathering at the student's Parlor to discuss a joint union event and related activities. Members are invited to attend and participate in planning.
