Colleges explore pass-fail options and non major course grading to widen study, with Rochester, Goucher, Antioch and others piloting P F evaluations. Proposals range from single pass-fail courses to no grades or credits, sparking debates over graduate acceptance and permanent records.
Paul H. Rockwell editor of Gadfly magazine spoke at the noon College Parlor gathering addressing students and faculty on The Constitution and Power Policies. He urged stopping the Vietnam War, critiqued belief in a science of war, and noted deferment attitudes among students while calling for universal participation to end the conflict.
Barnard women are invited to enter the Glamour magazine ten best dressed college girls contest. Submit the name, address, and local phone number on paper and mail to Box 58 Derm Mail. A pretty face and bright smile are encouraged, not wardrobe.
Three BULLETIN associate juniors present a plan to remunerate Senior Editors with a weekly salary comparable to part-time earnings. They argue time demands hurt academics and that professionalism should replace the myth of unpaid service, noting currentwages for the business manager, assistant, treasurer, and secretary.
The Columbia-Barnard Pre-Law Society, led by James Bergman with a three member committee, plans a biannual Pre-Law Journal next fall featuring professional and student articles. The group aims to unite pre-law students, attract faculty advice, and explore legal studies broadly while seeking funding and a publisher.
Barrard College Music Department forms a mixed chorus of about sixty men and women. Auditions run February 6 to 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. sign up at Podge 703 if unable to attend. Open to all university colleges with no extensive training required. An accompanist is sought. auditions same times as chorus. Members rehearse twice weekly. First concert scheduled for later in the season.
