Fairfield man dies as team of horses runs away
Albert Teel of Fairfield is killed instantly when a cow crate on his wagon spooked a team of horses. He fell from the wagon on Ash street near John McGann’s home, breaking his neck. The horses continued, striking a Ford auto and later another car, with minimal damage to occupants before being stopped near the Presbyterian church. Teel, 66, is survived by his wife, a son Arthur, a brother Burr of Salem, Oregon, and two sisters Mrs. Carrie Parker of Minneapolis and Mrs. John Schneller of Milwaukee.

Funeral services for Albert Teel in Fairfield
Funeral services for Albert Teel who died in a runaway accident last Thursday were held at his Fairfield home Sunday afternoon at 2 30. Rev. William Moore officiated. The Fairfield male quartette sang. Pallbearers were J. E. Cushman Monroe Bump Frank Stanley S. H. Burtch John McFarland and E P Lace. Interment followed in Fairfield cemetery. Attending from out of town were Teel's sister Mrs John Schneller of Milwaukee and Mr and Mrs John A Raup and family of Portage.

On Wednesday evening August 24 friends and neighbors surprised Misa Mabel Sullivan with a miscellaneous shower. About seventy five attended as four year old Anne Wood and Leslie Ballone dressed as bride and groom led in a flower decked wagon full of gifts. The couple opened gifts with help from the fiance.

Last surviving captain of famed 30th Illinois dies at 81
Captain John W. Toler the last remaining captain of the 30th Illinois regiment died at Carbondale Illinois at age 81 from a paralysis stroke. He served under Gen Login and with Sherman in the march to the sea and took part in thirty two major operations, being wounded in three battles and never previously sick.

City Solons Hold Meeting in Regular Session
City council met in regular session at city hall with Mayor Adolph Andro presiding. A building permit was granted to Ben Doty for a one story cement block vulcanizing and battery shop. A milk and cream regulation petition was sent to the health department. The snow assessment roll totaled $82.75. Sewer approvals were reported for two locations. The city engineer will draft plans for three welcome signs at trunks highways from Portage Kilbourn and Sauk City, not exceeding $30 each.

Driver narrowly escapes after head on collision near Necedah
Lyle Goble of Elroy and friends survived a head on crash when another vehicle crossed the center and struck Goble’s car, driving the engine under the seat. The party escaped unharmed though the car was wrecked beyond repair.

R L McFarland inspector of bridges and culverts, living in Baraboo, reports a cyclone near Riley caused damage. He saw a black cloud approach after rain stopped. People and horses fled to a barn. one man and ten horses were killed when the structure collapsed. The storm lasted about ten minutes.

Isaac A. Blackburn father of Leo Blackburn died suddenly at his North Branch Michigan home. A prominent local furniture businessman born in Chatham Ontario in 1879 he left four sons Leo Arthur Stanley of North Branch and Charles O. Blackburn of Evansville Indiana. Local youths dream of conquest end in capture at depot
Three Baraboo youths Harold Ziegler Gerald Capener and Dale Palmer all teenagers were arrested in Madison after allegedly stealing $500 from Fred Berkley’s car during a concert at Ochsner Park. About $334 recovered. $70 spent on wild west gear included a toy pistol and beam trinkets. Capener awaits trial on charges related to the theft.
