Born May 29, 1849 in Fayette Lafayette County he taught Greek at Wisconsin and later led churches in New York Boston and Buffalo. He helped raise funds for China missions and attended the Edinburgh conference. burial in Pasadena Friday. Surviving wife Jennie M. Field of Madison and niece Miss Marian Frank of Sioux City Iowa.

Varsity Boys Rescued From Lake Mendota
Lester Pasch a Milwaukee freshman at the university, along with William Kellett Neenah and Robyn K McFadden Wilmette III, were saved from drowning after slipping through ice on Lake Mendota during a Maple Bluff steak roast. Fraternity men reached them with ropes as Pasch struggled in the icy water.

Harry Ledwith of Lone Rock located his mother Mrs Edward Ledwith Devine after a long separation. Edward Ledwith, the father, died in 1897 and the family lived in Madison. Private Iver Orcutt of Company E Thirty sixth Infantry earned a heroism citation for volunteering to reconnoiter the front near Preny France on November 1. Under shrapnel and gas he mapped each unit’s position, reporting back locations despite heavy fire. Orcutt is the son of farmer John Merrish Orcutt of Mazomanie.

Damages Awarded In Horse Collision Case In Exelsior
Emma Schienkat of Exelsior town received 30 dollars in circuit court for injuries and property damages after her horse was frightened by Henry Toeder's dog. Five dollars covered personal injuries and 25 dollars covered damages to the buggy, horse, and harness. Jurors in the case included Henry Graf, H. E. French, and others. Return After 17 Year Sleep Locusts Expected
The 17 year locusts are due this spring per a US Department of Agriculture advisory to the university biology department. The outbreak will be heavy nationally but Wisconsin will fare similarly to past events. This year marks the 13 year cycle completing, with a double pest dose countrywide. Swarms travel from Long Island west to the Mississippi valley reaching southern Wisconsin. Sauk county not seriously affected.

A roof blaze broke out Friday night about 7 30 at an empty house west of Reedsburg Catholic parsonage. Captain La Mar Reaches Baraboo After Metz Front Service
Captain C. M. La Mar, who fought near Metz, arrived in Baraboo on furlough from Fort Sheridan with his ten day old son. A former attorney, he served twenty two months, commanded French 75s with shock artillery, fired 4000 rounds, and was at Metz when the armistice signed on November 11. He weighs 170 pounds after illness since January 18 and hopes to forget the war.

Infant Roy Barker Haase Dies of Weak Heart
Roy Barker Haase infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Haase died last night at about 11 o clock from a weak heart. He was three months and ten days old. Funeral was held today at 3 o clock from the home. The parents will travel tomorrow with the remains to Oshkosh for burial.

Gable Pays Fine In Justice Court
W E Gable paid a $50 fine plus costs in Justice Andre's court for stealing a generator from a car owned by W H Marriott. The generator and tools were returned. District Attorney Bohn led the case. Gable was arrested in Sparta after Marriott alleged the missing generator was found.
