Obituary of Jennie Smith Clemons of Walton and Whittier
Jennie Smith Clemons was born November 3 1837 in Weston Vermont and died February 26 1919 in Whittier California. She was married to Lester Clemons in 1865 and had four children three of whom survive Hat tie Smith of Elroy Carrie Lee of Glendive Montana and Mattie Hall of Whittier California. Interment was in Oaks cemetery Walton where she had long lived and served as postmaster. Funeral held March 8 at the Walton W M Church with Rev Albert Shore and Rev C Butcher. The last years were marked by long illness and pain with many relatives attending from distant towns. Chinese soldiers in Moscow are selling human flesh. The Bolsheviks are planned and the death rate from disease climbs.
