Nelson Goman aged 69 died suddenly from heart failure Wednesday night after a long life of work and service. Born in New York state of French origin, he married Amanda Jones in 1867 and lived at Excelsior, Delton, and Baraboo where he served as county jail rock pile guard and assessor. He leaves a wife ten children and several siblings.

The Galena community reports Gus Drager died accidentally after being found jammed at the bottom of a seldom used cellar stairway in his home. He had moved clothing aside to seek warmth on a cold night. head wounds and heart failure or a concussion are considered possible causes. Funeral services were held in Fort Atkinson and Galena with railway conductors among pallbearers.
