He spent nearly six months abroad with illness including influenza pneumonia pleurisy and mumps while in the infantry. Henrietta La Grange Griffin born Cleveland November 4 1836 moved with family to Pipe Creek Wisconsin then Kenosha Wisconsin married Abraham Griffin March 2 1854 in Waukegan Illinois. The Griffins lived on a Illinois farm then moved to Ironton Wisconsin where he enlisted in 1864 and served until the war’s end. After his death in 1907 Henrietta cared for relatives and finally died February 17 1919 in Iowa near her daughter Mrs Ja Harrison. She leaves seven children and a memorial window was placed in the local M E church beside her husband’s grave in Resting Green cemetery.
