Baraboo Leaders Back Statewide Prohibition Referendum

Baraboo officials and business leaders including Mayor George T. Thaever District Attorney Hill Chief of Police S A Pelton and W H McFetridge of Island Woolen Mills urge submitting the Evjne referendum bill to a public vote. They argue the liquor question affects home industry and economy and should be decided by the people. Baraboo with a brewery and eighteen saloons may shift sentiment since last spring’s no-license defeat.

Commissioners Hear Baraboo Case and Workers Comp Claims

Wisconsin Industrial Commission members F. M. Wilcox and F. T. McCormick visited Madison to hear cases at the Courthouse. Clyde Carroll vs. City of Baraboo continued. Hog Die Off Hits Columbia County Farm Herds

William Wallace and sons of Payette in Columbia County reported 25 hogs weighing over 200 pounds each died from disease with two sick. Remains are burned to prevent spread. Other local farmers also report losses in their swine herds.

Robbery of meat wagon at Wellington hotel

The Roser and Koch meat wagon was robbed during daytime deliveries to the Wellington hotel. Two five dollar bills and cents change were stolen from the wagon, left behind at the Wellington. The thief's identity is unknown.
