Two Men Die In Cahoon Mine Accident At Cahoon
Early today two miners Walter Kelley aged 28 and Emil Kamenscky aged 22 died at the Cahoon mine near the city when a bucket detached from a cable and fell about 400 feet. Kelley was crushed and Kamenscky was killed instantly. The shaft area saw several miners narrowly escape injury as the two-ton bucket struck near them. Kamenscky, born in Germany, leaves a large family and a wife and two young daughters. Kelley, long a resident of the county, leaves a wife and three brothers and seven sisters. Funeral arrangements set for Sunday at his Huribut home and Congregational church.

The Lyons graduating class staged The Sweet Girl Graduate to a packed church audience last night. Ruth Kimball impressed as the title role with all cast members delivering strong performances under Miss Baer’s guidance. Alleged impostor leaves jail after sentencing
Harry Moore, who claimed deaf and dumb status to obtain money, departed the county jail after a three month sentence for obtaining money under false pretenses. The sheriff has no information on whether it was an escape or a walk away, with sightings reported toward Madison. Moore was jailed after Justice Andre's court verdict based on witnesses.

Doped Drink Stems From Robbery Motive In Alderman Foerster’s Death
Former Alderman Carl G Foerster fell ill for a year and died after a drug was slipped into his drink by a trio of strangers in his Twelfth Street saloon. He said the robbery aim was to take more than $500 hidden in cigar boxes. The crime occurred when Barnum and Bailey circus was in La Crosse last year. He later relapsed and never regained his mind before death.

Five hundred Wisconsin farmers in the Alfalfa Order of the Wisconsin Agricultural Experiment Association planted 2000 acres of alfalfa this spring. Organized last fall by Prof. R A Moore of the University of Wisconsin College of Agriculture, the group bought about eighteen tons of seed and will keep yields by farm.
