Assault to Murder in Whigham Arrests
Marshal I B Lasseter and H J Logue arrested Ed Young for knocking down a boy. John McRae attacked them with a hickory stick, Ed Young joined and seized Logue’s pistol. They beat Logue. youths were jailed after hearing, probable penitentiary at November term.

Justifiable Homicide Ends Pursuit of Escaped Burglar
Deputy Sheriff T J Eggerton pursued Reuben Lewis across county lines after a burglary spree that included stealing 800 pounds of seed cotton. In a confrontation on Howard’s plantation Lewis attacked with a knife. Eggerton shot, killing him when he reached for the officer. An inquest returned a verdict of justifiable homicide.
