Wife of jailed congressman seeks his seat in Congress
Washington December 9. Representative J Parnell Thomas of New Jersey was sentenced to six to 18 months in jail and a $10 000 fine for cheating the government. His wife announced she would run for his congressional seat saying as his wife she can do no less. The judge ordered payment of the restitution and Thomas begins serving in Danbury prison after resignation effective January 2.
