Eby criticizes Gilmer Aiken plan for Texas education
University of Texas education professor Dr Frederick Eby told the Austin Kiwanis Club the Gilmer Aikin temporary control of school affairs by the state auditor is a legislative error. He attributed the legislation to professional and political enemies of Dr L A Woods and warned of influences by textbook publishers and economic barons in board selections. He urged Woods as the rightful first commissioner and noted Texas education progress under Woods. The event closed with songs by Jim Berry and a Scout River trip welcome planned for Ballinger Boy Scouts arriving Wednesday.
