Local notes include visitors from Cherokee and Webb, a May 27 poppy sale meeting, and insurance and banking notices. Commencement at Aurelia High School set for Friday evening, and class of 1933 play announced. Dust storm disrupts farming. corn replants and plant sales listed.
Districts 7 and 8 finished the school year with a joint picnic at the Ralph Freese grove. Teachers Miss Alice Streed and Miss Dorothy Linquist led the event as many pupils and parents attended. Several local and visiting residents were noted, and the day included a fine picnic dinner followed by ice cream.
Elk No 4 patrons and families plus Mr and Mrs Roy Matzdorff enjoyed a Sunday picnic at Sunset Park in Storm Lake. Mrs Matzdorff received an electric waffle iron. Several locals visited hospitals and homes including Herbert Kolpin at Bates hospital Aurelia after a horse incident.
Mr and Mrs Fred Zwick and Dorothy of Sutherland visited Geo Zwick over the weekend. Loma Robinson spent the weekend in Cherokee. Gladys Lansen hosted high school friends Monday evening. Harold Anderson and family visited Alta. Mrs Jas Ware hosted a shower for Mary Coupe with many gifts and a luncheon. Several schools closed last Friday with Nos 1 2 picnicking at Cherokee grounds. No 6 picnicked at Wescott park. Mrs Arthur Coupe hosted a shower for her mother Bonsall who recently lost her home in a fire. Luncheon served. Harry Cass of Sloan and McKinley Menefee visited Sioux City. Bert Mummert and Oren Coombs also in Sioux City.

Hanover news reports Miss Bretta Wendell from Schaller spent a week at the John Otto home. Miss Edna Golnitz of Sioux City visited relatives and friends Sunday. Mrs. H. H. Otto spent Thursday with the August Miller home in Galva. Miss Opal Barnard of Cherokee visited Miss Neema Holtz Sunday. Mr and Mrs Reinhart Miller of Galva and Mrs Dick Schmidt were business visitors in Storm Lake Monday afternoon.
Congregational Church led by Pastor Edwin Trigg schedules church school at 10:00 a m. A union Memorial Day service will be held at 11:00 a m in the Methodist church. Christian Endeavor meets at 7:00 p m.
