Cherokee Times reports anticipated 27 10 35 cents per pound for wool sold through the state association pool. Chas Sexton, secretary, writes to A A Coburn, Cherokee county association president. An increased advance to 19 cents for best grade is promised. Cherokee wool growers will lead a car at Ulineis Central railroad yards Wednesday May 31. Schedule 01 advances lists bright quarter and three eighths native wool 18 cents semi bright quarter. By lungeth 8 fine and half or western 12 to 17 cents. Rejected wool such as burr, seedy, black and pulled 12 cents Satay Anambay.
Mrs. C. E. Ammona hosted the Past Chiefs club with needlework and a three course dinner. The Lutheran ladies met for social needlework and lunch. A May 24 party honored Miss Iva Miller at Dorothy Scott’s home with rainbow decor and gifts. Out-of-town guests were cited. James Murray and Della M. Grubb are named in related society and education notices.
In Plymouth county, commanders and adjutants of all Legion posts met at the city building on Wednesday afternoon with other post members. After talks by Col. Haynes and Sheriff Ralph Rippey, a broad consensus urged backing the movement to enforce law and order in Plymouth county.
First Grade honors go to Myrna Grienke Sonia Bergquist Kenneth Davis Conley McLaughlin Donald Bengtson Helen Paulson Orrin Sweet and others with averages 2.9 or higher. Second and third grades note reading progress attendance perfects and exam exemptions as the year ends with 190 visitors at exhibit and many students earning top marks.
Friday May 19 concluded the junior high girls meet with Fleetfoot scoring 48 points to win. Aztec 23, Sequoia 17, Algonquin 4. Standouts included Marjorie Person 22, Violet Carlson 12, Nellie Mongan 12, Mildred Fasal er 8, Arleen Glidewell 8, Beulah Williams 7.
Morning service at 11:00 with Sunday School at 10:00 and union Memorial sermon by Rev Edwin Trigg. Evening service at 8:00 after a special music program by Mrs O G Waddell and students featuring piano trio and various vocal and instrumental performances.
Citizens from Plymouth county met at the LeMars court house to organize after the withdrawal of state troops. They heard talks from state and local officials and pledged to organize communities to support orderly government and civil authority, restoring Plymouth county’s reputation as law abiding.
Sioux City banker James F Toy announced on Friday that after 20 years aligned with the Republican party he has become a Democrat. He cited a definite upward business trend and a bright outlook as reasons for his party switch.
Toy told the Greater Sioux City committee that farm product price advances spark a broader revival. He claimed farmers now expect price levels that cover production costs and reward labor, expressing strong support for Roosevelt's leadership and policies.
Des Moines May 19 Cherokee county attorney James D F Smith who urged keeping troops out of Cherokee county during farm disorders was asked to come to Des Moines for a conference with the governor. Governor Herring said he wanted to learn what Smith meant by his message and discuss the county attorney’s attitude toward law enforcement. Smith is expected to attend the Des Moines meeting next week with the governor and representatives from the attorney general's office.
