St. John's Lutheran of Hanover celebrated its 70th anniversary with about 1060 attendees across three services. the noon meal served to over 300 as Rev. W H Discher Rev A F Otto and Rev Wm Kanning delivered sermons and messages of commendation. Congregants from Storm Lake Alta Aurelia Galva and others joined the observance and offerings funded missionary work for the church building fund. Choirs under Louis Reins performed Bach and Rinkhart pieces.

Raymond Hinkeday had surgery last week at St. Joseph's hospital in Sioux City. Charles Zwemke and family visited the Harold Trogrefe home in Linn Grove on Thursday evening. Fred Roth remains a medical patient at Alta hospital.
The Aurelia Atoms defeated Peterson 13 to 0 in a shutout, their first of the season. Carol Eliott pitched well allowing three singles with two strikeouts and no walks in her fourth win, supported by Carmen Lighter and Shirley Shirkenbak who were notably busy.
Aurelia Atoms total 12 hits as Connie Lighter leads with three hits and three runs in a strong win. Maureen Mallory Eloise Gertsmeier and Elizabeth Buenger add two hits each, while Carmen and Shirley contribute solid defense with multiple putouts. The win marks Aurelia’s eighth in a row.
