Proposals for Army Rations and Mail Routes Published

The War Department advertises for proposals to supply troops at Michilimackinac Detroit Fort Osage and other posts from June 1813 to June 1814 and for mail service along routes in North and South Carolina Georgia and Georgia ports. It outlines ration components prices transport terms and advance supply rights.

Postal contract bids for mail routes announced in 1814

The notices solicit yearly bids and prices for mail delivery on routes 1 through 33 with payments quarterly in February May August and November. Only free white persons may be employed and proposals may note carriage by stage. The Postmaster General reserves the right to cancel any contract for missed trips. Contracts run from November 1 1814 to December 11 1814 for some routes and to December 31 1813 for others. Gideon Granger Post Master General Washington City June 12 1814.
