A Letter on Oratory Style and Persuasive Speaking
The writer urges a European or American taste for concise purpose driven speech. Reason should lead, argument dominate, wit and fancy may illuminate but must stay in background to avoid distraction, and the correspondent is urged to pursue clarity over ornament. The letter closes with polite season’s greetings from WM. WIRT.
