Indian Hostilities Spread Across Alabama Settlements
The Columbus Enquirer reports hostilities above the Federal road with a seven person family killed near Davis, plantations sacked below Fort Mitchell, bridges burned, and missing negroes. A 50 man scouting party found only friendly Indians. 30 neighbors met, 50 Indians in a skirmish, one killed, several wounded. Major relief efforts by Alabama troops and drafts planned, but confidence in protection remains low.
