The Volunteers and Regulars in the War Compared
A critique of Gen Scott claims volunteers, especially from Louisiana and Georgia, outperformed regulars in discipline and endurance. The piece notes volunteers’ cool daring at Oloklikaha and their steadiness, while alleging regulars drank and fractured camp order. It argues volunteers deserved higher regard and questions Scott’s praise of the regulars.
