Advertisement from Samuel Allen offers full compensation for a likely iron gray mare about five years old and 145 hands high. The mare carries a large bell with colt expected around May 1. Dr William S Hall notes their usefulness for stomach and bowel evacuation and as a cheap option for travelers, recommending their general use and family administration. The pills are advertised as sold wholesale through Watson and Herbert in New London.

It lists funds for the secretary of war, accountant, purveyor, navy offices, postmaster general, loan offices, surveyor general, mint officers, and various clerks and watchmen, detailing salaries and incidental expenses.
