A prominent upstate South Carolina lawyer seeks a three year partnership with a younger attorney. The deal includes a first rate law library and a partial cash payment toward his fees. The subscriber announces he now runs the Cut Nail Manufactory at the corner of Washington and Ellis streets opposite Calffrey and Bostin's Tavern. Nails of all kinds are made and sold on Welch’s former terms. A workman formerly with Welch ensures quality and timely supply. Nails are kept at Danforth’s Store on Road Street with identical prices. June 9.
Ten dollars reward offered by Ann Boftick for the return of Lydia a 25 year old enslaved woman about five feet six inches tall with a large scar on her right elbow from a barn fire. Reward and expenses paid for her apprehension and delivery to Loninville or safe jail. April 2, 1__.
Advertisement states on July 14 in Warrenton Isaac Ball and Turner Persons as agents for William Taylor will sell a prime young enslaved man named Lewis on a nine month credit with bond and security. Sale by agents appears as part of a probate estate of William Ros deceased. Also a separate notice mentions a house and lot for sale recently occupied by a person unidentified in text.
The subscriber announces to county voters that he will not seek a seat in the Legislature. He cites private business and family welfare, praises fifteen years of public service, and attributes his decision to the stated reason without retracting his gratitude to the electors.
On the first Tuesday in August next at the Market House in Augusta at the usual hour a sale or auction will be held.
A Davidson county certificate notes the English stallion Royalist and its successful progeny. The text also records an insolvency proceeding for David Taylor, ordering his appearance in Greensborough Inferior Court on September 15 to assess solvency and potential discharge under the law.
An Augusta city ordinance states five members form the Health Committee with authority to act on city health matters. The City Marshall must notify owners to remove nuisances within prescribed time, with fines up to twenty five dollars per day for neglect. It also adjusts hog seizure fees to twelve and a half cents. Advertisement shows Captain John H. Dent selling a family of enslaved people in Columbia County with names and prices including Sam 400 and Kitty 350. Also details an 1810 Charleston notice offering a circulated prospectus for historical charts and biographical engravings by David Ramsey with various discount terms.
A twenty dollar reward is offered for information leading to the capture of Harry Melton a formerly enslaved man from Campbellton South Carolina now believed to be near his wife’s residence owned by Mrs. Vessels or traveling between Augusta and Savannah A ten dollar reward for delivering him to Augusta jail and a twenty dollar reward for information identifying any harborer or helper.
A notice offers ten dollars for the apprehension of a enslaved man named Dick age about twenty. He fled May end with a companion from Dot Walker’s in Columbia County. One companion is a dark man with a large mouth, the other a bright yellow boatman known on the Savannah River. Another figure, Stephen Malone, is named in relation to the same pursuit. Elijah Clark, esq., announces candidacy to represent the state in the U.S. House, with June 23 date attached.
Edward Jordan advertises Royalist and Whip with breeding terms for the 1810 season. Royalist will stand at Washington until October 16 at 76 dollars payable by note January first. discharges by fall season with discounts. One dollar to the groom in each case. conditions limit liability for accidents.
John R. Fairlamb advertises book binding services for the public from the former residence of the late John Hammil Esq. at the upper end of Reynolds Street. Orders left at the office will receive prompt attention. June 30.
