The editors announce four volumes published with January 1 1811 start and offer subscriptions to a fifth volume. They discuss the value of literature, the rise of American reading, and the aim to extract select articles from foreign and American journals to educate and entertain the public. They detail printing, pricing, and subscription terms and invite booksellers to submit titles and promotions.
The Subscribers offer for sale the tract named Upton, about 1400 acres with a large plantation in decent order. Land is moderately good and healthy, suitable for a country store and large stock. Also 500 to 800 acres near Washington, near the current plantation. Apply to W. and F. Gilbert, Wilkes County, June 1803.
