Death Claims City Treasurer Charles Q Holm
Charles Q Holm longtime Attica city treasurer and Sweden native died at 1 40 pm at his brother’s home after a brief nervous illness. He served as treasurer for twelve years and earlier worked in the Leif Buggy Co. He was born January 3 1860 near Grenna Sweden and came to America at age nine. He leaves three brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held at his brother’s home with city officials and lodge members in attendance.

Following the death of City Treasurer Chas O Holm the mayor appointed Albert Holm, brother of the late treasurer, to the post after council approval. He was sworn in at 8 30 pm and took charge as investigators noted a cash shortage of nearly $200. The family restored the deficit by continuing Charley Holm's salary offset.

Miss Louise Sailor aged 35 died at St Elizabeth hospital Lafayette after a two week illness, typhoid then cerebro spinal meningitis. The funeral was held at 2 30 p m at the family home in West Lafayette with burial in Grandview cemetery. She was the daughter of L A Sailor a former Warren county public instruction head and coal business resident. The Sailor family is well known in the territory north of the city and in Williamsport.

Purviance Patriarch Dies After Paralysis Strikes
W R Purviance of Huntington died at 6 00 pm Monday following a June first stroke and paralysis. The 75 year old Ohio native had resided in Huntington since youth and leaves a wife a daughter and son Harry D Purviance who received the news Sunday. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 430.

Captain Horatio R. Claypool, longtime Fountain County figure and former Indiana legislator, died Thursday at his Covington home. Born February 24, 1828 in Shawnee Township, he served as common pleas prosecutor in 1852 and as representative in 1858, later enlisting as a captain in the 69th Indiana during the Civil War. He is survived by a widow, two sons, a daughter, two brothers, and one sister.

Merchants association hosts a big Attica band tournament on Wednesday October 2 with at least six bands confirmed from Newtown Waynetown West Point Hoopeston Rainsville and Fowler Otterbein expected to decide soon. Attica National band to welcome entrants and join the contest. Two compositions chosen for the score will be played in unison by all bands creating a chorus of over a hundred musicians.
