Judge I E Schoonover of Covington Ind and his wife were in an interurban collision near Lima. Both were taken to a hospital but reports earlier fearing serious injuries proved exaggerated. They later bought a new Ford after trading in the damaged car.
Mark Borum studied Attica business leaders about reviving an eight year old Tipton to Attica interurban plan. Promoter Eugene Purcell sparked eastern enthusiasm, likened to J Rufus Wallingford, with jail history for bad checks. Odell farmers and landowner Francis Haywood back wide support. Logan township previously pledged 33000, Attica pledged eager help when time comes.
John Henry Wilson, longtime Williamsport resident and former Warren county recorder, died at his home Sunday aged 62 after a paralysis stroke left him partially disabled. He was a Royal Arch Mason and Methodist church member. He married Amanda Briggs in 1874. their children were Oscar Eustace and Lula Helen. Funeral service was held at his home with burial in West Lebanon cemetery.
Albert Schoonover son of Judge I E Schoonover of Covington has been named United States attorney for the district of southern California by President Wilson. Schoonover has long resided in San Diego but was born in Covington and has strong local ties. He previously served Fountain County in the state legislature and sought the secretary of state post. He moved to California about a decade ago and remained active in politics, later competing for national delegate at the Democratic convention.
Editor Williams reports a street fight in Covington witnessed during a day at work. He notes his usual pleasures include spotting typos and grammar errors while detailing the scene in his Democrat column about the mill described at length.

A runaway on Joe Weaver’s farm near Judyville left two mules dead and another badly injured. Two other mules suffered leg injuries, and eight animals were harmed overall as a rear team bolted into a front binder team, throwing the drivers clear. The wreck destroyed one binder and damaged the other, while both drivers escaped unharmed.
A Tuesday afternoon blaze at Geo Bless's auto garage in an Auburn car damaged the vehicle and two tires as firefighters contained the flames. Mrs Bless suspects insurance policy had lapsed, origin unclear with prior hot bearing fires and possible gasoline fumes contributing.
On Levi Sweeney’s 51st birthday a Sunday celebration near Independence brought family and friends. Guests included Oscar Anderson family, Roy Farmer family, Elmer Gamble, Clarence Wilhite, Charles Bell, Bert Prickett and many Crane relatives among others. Tables were laid out on the lawn with a wide spread of foods and gifts and post cards were exchanged.
Veedersburg school board appoints Prof Nay of Danville as superintendent to replace J W Wilkinson who resigned to take charge of Clinton schools after three years in Veedersburg. Nay described as well qualified. Wilkinson moved to Clinton with many friends in Veedersburg expressing regret.
John Young, a 20s resident of the city, fell from the Titanic motorboat near the Wabash river and sank in swift current near the railroad bridge. Despite exhaustive searches by volunteers and authorities, the body has not been found. a $50 reward was offered as sisters of the missing man organized a subscription raising nearly $100 for continued search.
The man, about 29, was son of Jack and Jane Young. His aged mother lives in Liberty township northeast of Kramer. A brother resides there and two sisters live in At ticea Mrs E E Wilhite and Mrs James Tyler. Another sister, Mrs Mary Crawford, lives in Danville Illinois. Mr Young was nephew of Mia George A Johnson and Peter and Flavius Warbritton of this city.
Washington dispatches report Lafayette postmaster George P. Haywood slated for removal. Charles H. Ball favored as successor by Congressman Peterson. Haywood denies knowledge of charges and signals possible resistance. Allegations cite failure to perform eight hours daily duties and past lottery law violations via Journal Day prize drawings.
County commissioners will oil test several Lake County stone roads to study long term effects and costs. If successful, oiling may be adopted countywide after current construction ends. Mrs. Margaret Digby Rice died after a paralytic stroke at the Nave home in Attica. Funeral at the Nave residence with Rev. W. A. McMillan. burial at Rockville's cemetery. Survived by two daughters Mrs. J. Shannon Nave and Mrs. C. B. Isley. Born Belfast 1832, she taught in Rockville and Waveland. widow of Thomas Newtown Rice. A devoted churchwoman and advocate for youth, she died July 21 1913, leaving a faith-filled legacy and four children, two of whom survived.
The new public service commission drafts regulations for gas pressure standards from central plants and periodic meter tests. Electric meters must be tested yearly and electric companies must record all complaints and meter tests. Experts will be appointed by the commission to enforce compliance.
Trace McCarty, from Springfield Missouri, is recovering in Attica at his sister’s home after July fourth head injury from diving into a rock. He wore a hospital created head harness to relieve weight and expects to shed it soon while continuing recovery aided by Mrs. Fred Springman. John Beaver of Hillsboro, working in Indianapolis, fell from a moving street car Tuesday night. He sustained a deep head gash and multiple bruises, and was taken to City hospital for treatment.
