South Omaha Market Review Shows Mixed Cattle and Slower Demand

The week’s trade featured reduced receipts and uneven markets for cattle and sheep. Corn fed beef declined 50 to 60 cents from two weeks ago, western range beaves fell early then recovered, and demand remained stronger for cows and heifers. Stockers and feeders were uneven with light weight steers in demand, while heavier and mixed lots sold poorly. Overall prices fell 10 to 15 cents, with packers bearish on heavy grades amid weak meats and hogs, though outlet remained solid for feeder grades and lighter loads. Sheep receipts eased and demand weakened, with prices about a dime lower. however liberal supplies moved with little trouble.

Bible in the Public Schools and Religious Harmony

The article argues for revising Bible teaching in public schools to focus on the book’s core message rather than sectarian content. It notes interfaith cooperation among Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant leaders and praises advances in pedagogy for graded Bible lessons. It suggests a nonsectarian, widely accepted presentation could revive interest in Bible study among youth and families.
