P Worthington died at age eighty in Lewis after a ten day illness. A Grinnell immigrant, he lived thirty years in Lewis with wife and three daughters surviving. Funeral at Congregational church in Lewis with Rev Foy era officiating, burial in Grinnell. An longtime Odd Fellow, he was among Iowa’s elder members of the order. Fred Wilkine arrived in city for a brief visit from Topeka where he works for the Santa Fe.

Old Chautauqua board dissolves and halts new events
The old Chautauqua association voted to dissolve at last night’s meeting. The board will not pursue Atlantic Chau tauquias but will assist any outside group that takes up the work. About 1900 remains, with 856 in cash and lumber values. The $1000 will be donated to a public fund or YMCA building fund. The list of directors is given. Also reported is an injunction case incoming from Warren Brothers of Philadelphia against the City of Atlantic and Capita City Construction, delaying work on forty blocks pending the court ruling.

Fire destroys barn at S. H. Kirk farm near Atlantic
A fire at the S. H. Kirk farm two and a half miles southeast of Atlantic destroyed a $1,000 barn used for grain storage. The oatskin caused the blaze, with $600 insurance coverage. No livestock were harmed, and nearby house and another barn were saved by a bucket brigade.

Thresher Engine Fire Destroys Farm Grain Near Town
