Dutch Belted Cattle of Holland and Their Northwest Prospects

The Dutch Belted cow, known for jet black color with a white belt, originated in Holland and dates to the seventeenth century. Imported by American breeders like Holbert and Knight, they gained fame for milk and butter quality, hardy constitutions, and calm dispositions. In the Northwest they are said to have strong dairy potential, with large milk yields and high butter content, as shown by past dairy records.
