Newton notes John M Haines born in 1863 in Jasper county died in Boise Idaho where he served as governor 1913 to 1915. Waterloo records Benjamin Schultz a junk dealer buying 10000 in Liberty Bonds the citys largest single purchase. Lamoni recalls Robert Whatcroft farmer killed by lightning. he was a well known Odd Fellow and K of P, his brother in law Charles McCann mentioned.
