Architect Downing Wins Big Chattanooga Plant Contract
Architect W. T. Downe of Atlanta was chosen supervising architect for the University of Chattanooga’s new plant. His plans include razing the old administration building and creating a modern quadrangle with four completed buildings: administration with offices, library and museum, science building, liberal arts building, and a Gothic chapel. The old structures will remain until completion. The university trustees anticipate spending about 106000 on the project. Downe’s Baylor school plans had earned wide notice, and the building committee unanimously endorsed his Gothic design as the best solution.
