In New York testimony on the United States Shipbuilding Company affair, LeRoy Dresser described how Morgan and Schwab-backed stock pools and Bethlehem Steel assets were maneuvered to underwrite the venture. He said Morgan and Schwab demanded stock bonuses and bond payments, with uneasy financing from the Trust Company of the Republic and J. P. Morgan & Co. In Starke, Florida, on Sunday morning around eight, a Negro woman named William Tison presented the family with two boys and two girls. News from Emporia and Topeka on October 7 reports multiple tornadoes causing deaths and injuries near Hamilton in Greenwood County and Aliceville Coffey County. Edith Bailey and several others are among the dead with additional injuries and extensive property loss. Weather damage also hits Manitowoc Wisconsin and farm structures near Bear Creek settlement.
In Sault Ste. Marie on October 7 an explosion damaged several feet of the Algoma Central railroad near the Consolidated Lake Superior Company's plant. Dynamiters appeared hurried, leaving the job incomplete. Track repaired by today, trains running as usual. Some suspect disgruntled Consolidated employees.
In New York on October 7 twenty five striking rag-sorters attacked fifteen workers at Steinberg Bros First Street factory. Spectators of about 1000 cheered as rioters tore clothing and punched workers. One ringleader was arrested. Strikes had lasted three weeks. Emmet Schwartz was arraigned and discharged with a reprimand.

After rushed experiments the contraption gained 100 yards of momentum then plunged into the Potomac river. No flight occurred and Langley stayed in Washington awaiting official results.
Desperate escape ends after a confrontation near Burns Oregon on October 7 as John Frost and deputy Saxon die in a gun battle with escaped prisoner Harry Egbert. Egbert fled after stealing a horse, with a $600 reward posted for his capture and no sighting since.
In Vincennes Indiana on October 7 George McAndrews a white bartender struck Roy Beard a Black barber and patron with a public safety item after Beard rushed toward him with a razor. Beard died instantly and Black residents fear civil unrest as crowds gather.
New York on October 7 a comic tone used by performers on an Eighth Avenue theater stage is alleged to have caused the death of Joseph Jenni son. He laughed so hard that heart failure followed, and he died in the theater lobby after being carried there by ushers.
A bottle found in the St. Lawrence near Alexander Bay reports a shipwreck. The note dated September 17, 1901 from Long Point Lake claims the steamer Harpon sank with seven feet of water in hold. The bottle was chipped, indicating a long voyage.
Helena Montana reporting an increase in the reward for capturing dynamiters. The Northern Pacific raised the bounty from 8000 to 50000, bringing the total reward to 10000. Authorities urge any information leading to arrests.

A new trial was repeatedly sought as he suffered paralysis and remained bedridden until death.

He warned of American steel exports flooding Britain and criticized Cobdenite views while lamenting declines in British agriculture sugar silk iron wool and cotton. In Dayton on October 7 Katherine Lane killed her husband W H Lane during a brutal quarrel at their restaurant. He struck her with dishes. She fled to the kitchen and stabbed him through the heart with a song knife, instantly killing him and severing two ribs. She then fell upon the body in grief as authorities arrived.
Senator Rivas Groot reports his study on the canal treaty is ready and to be presented in secret senate session. He flags unconstitutionality due to sovereignty cession but says slight modifications could fix the agreement while expressing a strong wish for canal construction within Colombia’s constitutional framework.
