Woman kills self before asylum commitment in Griffin
In Griffin Georgia on May 28 Mrs Clara May a Rush ton cotton mills resident shot herself after hiding in a neighbor's house. A shotgun was placed under her chin and a stick used to pull the trigger. Death was instantaneous. Her mind had grown erratic after the death of her infant last year and she was ordered for removal to the state sanitarium the following day. She is survived by her husband Will May and her father the Rev W A Pugh.

Raleigh May 28 Miss Louise Nora Taylor died at her Raleigh home at age 91. She gave North Carolina the state hymn The Old North State by composing its music after hearing the tune as a girl of 13. Judge William Gaston wrote the words. Taylor had not left her home in forty years due to lameness.

Miss Mary Algood Jones, noted blue ribbon winner at Koraa shows, rushed into a burning stable last night at about 11 o clock and led out three thoroughbred horses as flames consumed residences on Peachtree Street. Fire swept garages and servant houses, with two cars and a fine saddle horse reported lost. Hundreds watched as firemen battled the blaze into the early morning. as details of the fire’s origin remain unclear. The rear properties include Dr. Joseph Jacobs at 712 Peachtree and Dr. S. W. Foster at 714 Peachtree, among others on Juniper Street.

Two Men Die After Sudden Roadside Falls Near Pelham and West Point
