Explosion in Chicago Boarding House Kills Three
A massive blast at No 10 Sherman Street in Chicago destroyed the boarding house run by Aug Mitchell. Three men were killed and nine injured, with four of the wounded likely to die. The explosion occurred around 2:30 am as gas fed flames spread through the front and alley windows. The blast shook the nearby Board of Trade building and left rescuers to tally further fatalities.
