Columbus Sure to Own Plant

Columbus Ga March 18 Special An interesting development in the waterworks situation here is the opportunity for the city to buy the Columbus Waterworks Company plant. The property was offered for 400000 and the city countered with 200000 and a possible compromise figure. Much of the present system could be used in a municipal plant, while many pipes are too small and would be replaced. Acquisition would remove competition by purchase. The company has improved the property, doubling income in ten years amid growth. A municipal plant will be established whether or not the current system is purchased.
